FABRIC GUIDE
Modal
A term describing regenerated cellulose fibers known for strength in a wet state and used for naturally soft, durable garments.
Modal is celebrated as a contemporary wonder fabric. Sourced from beech wood, it merges the advantages of natural fibers with a remarkably soft touch. This fabric absorbs moisture effectively, similar to cotton, and possesses a silky sheen, maintaining its softness and luster through numerous washes. Choose modal for garments that offer a fine drape and a luxurious feel.
Pearl Fiber
A fabric incorporating nano-grade freshwater pearl powder into its fibers to enhance softness and moisture management.
This intricate technique, originating in the Far East, adds exceptional softness to fabric. The nano-grade pearl powder is known to improve the fabric’s breathability and moisture-wicking capabilities. When blended with other soft fibers, it elevates the overall softness. Select pearl fiber for ultimate comfort, softness, and breathability.
Pima Cotton
A robust, high-quality cotton with a medium staple, developed in the U.S. Southwest from select Egyptian varieties, chosen for its durability, strength, and absorbency.
Pima cotton’s development traces back to the 1790s. Continuous improvements have resulted in a cotton with superior fiber properties, luster, and a silky texture. Cotton, in general, absorbs and releases moisture quickly, allowing the fabric to breathe. It withstands high temperatures and dyes readily. Opt for pima cotton when you desire a soft, natural cotton feel that is inherently durable.
Sandwashed Silk
Silk is a natural filament from silkworm cocoons, primarily sourced from Asia. Sandwashed silk undergoes a finishing process using abrasives like sand to achieve a soft, sueded texture and a faded look.
Silk is prized for its resilience, aesthetic appeal, elasticity, strength, and its ability to feel warm in winter and cool in summer. The sandwashing process creates a uniquely soft hand and excellent drape. Wear sandwashed silk for its outstanding softness, beautiful drape, and luxurious feel.
Tencel
A fabric created from wood pulp cellulose, processed into a delicate, silk-like material.
Tencel marks a significant advancement in eco-conscious textiles. It is a natural, man-made fiber, known technically as Lyocell. Celebrated for its moisture management—absorbing and releasing humidity efficiently—and for its inherent softness due to low fiber stiffness. Tencel is renowned for its elegant drape, which flatters the body, offering a luxurious and refined look that is often comfortable for sensitive skin. Choose Tencel when you want a garment with beautiful flow.
Viscose
Viscose begins as a viscous solution from cellulose treated with chemicals, eventually spun into fibers known as rayon.
Modern manufacturers produce high-quality, environmentally responsible viscose by recycling waste products. Select viscose for a soft, flowing appearance in summer garments, or when it is blended with polyester to enhance the natural look and breathability of an item.
